Even if your Druid has avoided it in the past, PvP combat is in their future. Wrath of the Lich King transformed World of Warcraft’s World PvP. The shape of things to come is visible in the new real time PvP battle zone called Lake Wintergrasp, where the fact of life is always-on, real-time World PvP.

In Lake Wintergrasp you go at it on the live server to win points you can use to buy a wide variety of special items, including the new Heirloom items. These are items that any character in their account from level 1 to 80 and beyond can take advantage of.

With Lake Wintergrasp’s high popularity, and the trend toward PvP combat in the gaming industry, there will surely be even more World PvP in the future. So let’s talk about Druids and PvP:

Fighting PvP as a Druid offers many challenges and thrills, along with the potential for confusion and frustration. Druids are extremely tough to kill, and are unaffected by many of the crowd control techniques used by their opponents. With their ability to switch forms, heal, and even tank when necessary, they can do it all in PvP. Unfortunately, that very versatility makes your Druid a prime target, and makes Druid PvP play extra exciting.

Paradoxically, the Druid’s strength (his flexibility) can also be a disadvantage at first. Why? Because their best approach to defeating each class of opponent is different. That means to compete with the top players in the arena you need to master 9 different sets of one on one combat techniques. It’s hard, but certainly not impossible. Of course, if you have allies, you will have to adapt your style of play to adapt to their abilities too. Again, this isn’t impossible to do, but it takes a while to figure it all out by yourself.

Many people believe that the Druid is usually the king of 2v2 arena play. A sizable minority would make a case for the Rogue, but few would argue against the Druid adding more depth and variety to 2-person teams. A well designed Druid using strong strategy and tactics can own most any opponent in duels, and lead a top-tier 2v2 arena team. These same attributes make Druids great additions to 3v3 or 5v5 teams.

That’s the good thing about play a Druid. But they do have weaknesses too. If you’re going to succeed in PvP against the best players, you’ll need to understand your character’s weaknesses and be able to compensate for them. Choosing the right gear can go a long way toward solving that riddle, once you know which gear is the right gear. As always, you can learn all this on your own, if you’re willing to invest a lot of time.

Or you can invest in a PvP guide that contains the distilled wisdom of the top Player versus Player competitors. If you have a life outside the gaming world, you need a Druid in PvP guide. The ultimate Druid Guide will teach you what you need to know fast, and assuredly contains information you would never stumble on by yourself.
